“100 Mistérios, the visionary producers responsible for Jose Gourmet, Maria Organic, and Ati Manel, have created a revolutionary new brand of canned fish called ABC+.

With reverence for the past and an eye toward the future, ABC+ exists at the intersection of two worlds: cannery culture and haute cuisine. It finds its home by using only the finest, hand-processed ingredients to create bold, adventurous, never-before-seen recipes in limited-edition cans.

Fine dining at home, or wherever you wish

Their dream is to present the culinary quality of the planet’s most delicious and creative dishes in a shelf-stable can. They want to offer everyone the opportunity to create (and recreate) an ultra-premium and uniquely delicious seafood experience whenever the desire arises. To experience the exceptional, you do not need access to fresh fish, nor do you need to know how to process it, or even how to cook. You only need a curious appetite and a friend with whom to open one of their extraordinary products.

Locally driven global flavor

From Patatas Bravas in Spain to Moqueca in Brazil and the unforgettable flavors of Sweden and Japan, the chef and the R&D team have created a revolutionary range of flavors that span the entire globe.

By building their own cannery (the smallest in Portugal), they are no longer bound by the constraints associated with co-packing by a larger producer. Gone are the days of minimum order quantities. Gone are the days of compromise. Instead, their state-of-the-art facility—more laboratory than factory—offers an R&D capacity that simply cannot be matched by others in the industry.

Completely unique, inside and out

The ABC+ factory never produces more than 999 cans of any ABC+ series per day. This makes every can very special. It also means they can source much smaller quantities of seafood and fish and do not have to develop concepts based on volumes alone.

Instead, the fish are selected based on what is fresh, in season, and above all, inspiring. This, combined with sauces that are handmade each season, means that no two batches (or even cans) are completely identical. Rather than trying in vain to enforce uniformity, they embrace this unique experience, knowing that each can will be delicious in its own way. Therefore, their products are more akin to single-malt Scotch than blended whisky.

All of this positions ABC+ to conquer the culinary world.

Completely unique, inside and out

At first glance, the large-format round cans—in a new, iconic square packaging—immediately distinguish themselves from other brands.

What you notice first is a beautifully designed letter positioned front and center on the matte paper box. The name “ABC+” represents both their alphabet-inspired approach and the rich variety of fish species they present in their cans.

The letters represent the fish species (in Portuguese) in each can. B for Bacalhau (cod) and “T” for Truta (trout). A colored dot represents the sauce accompanying that can, such as Pink for capers or Yellow for Curry. These symbols and colors together form a unique visual language between product and customer.

Some recipes will deliberately be available only once. Others will be seasonal, and some will later be included in the Jose Gourmet catalog.

Made for and by lovers of special things
It is no surprise that many of our fans are specialty wine shops, bars, and wine enthusiasts. Just as in viticulture, where farmers, varieties, terroir, seasons, and makers are all respected parts of a wine’s story, our customers know that the quality of canned goods is the result of a similar set of parameters at sea. Sea temperature, acidity, plankton content, processing method, and batch size, to name a few. Enthusiasts of premium canned goods respect and embrace the artisanal care required for the production of the cans they know and love. In both domains, aficionados are willing to pay for the human ingenuity, mastery, and labor involved in the products they know and love.

And just like with wine, where connoisseurs recognize the difference between a €10 bottle and a €1,000 one, seasoned cannery enthusiasts taste the difference between a €1 can and a €50 one.
