AGROMAR
Agromar, with more than 50 years of experience, continues to offer you the highest quality canned goods. The company’s history dates back to 1948, when Armando Barrio Mata from Gijón had the original idea of canning sea urchin roe, which at that time was very abundant on the rocks and beaches of Asturias.
This unique product was initially intended for family consumption and as gifts, but commercial opportunities soon emerged that Armando was able to identify and develop.
In those years, there were many small canneries scattered along the Cantabrian coast, such as the factory his father ran in 1920. Armando produced and sold salted fish himself, perhaps the most artisanal of all canned products.
It was he who eventually registered the brand name in 1968, leading 21 years later to the birth of what we know today as CONSERVAS AGROMAR, a young and innovative company.
New times, new ideas, and new needs have stimulated Agromar’s constant growth in recent years, both in sales and in product range and production capacity, taking on new challenges and approaching highly competitive international markets with enthusiasm.
The success of Agromar products and their clear positioning in the “gourmet” segment have led to our preserves now being present in the most select restaurants and delicatessens in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, the UK, Mexico, the USA, and Hong Kong, which is undoubtedly the best reward for many years of work and an incentive to continue working with dedication and care.
