FERRIGNO

Provençal craftsmanship, organic in a tin

On the edge of the Camargue, in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône, lies the Ferrigno cannery. This French family business has been processing fish and seafood for generations, combining traditional preserving craftsmanship with distinctly Mediterranean flavours.

For Sardineshop we selected the La Bonne Mer Bio collection from their range: a colourful series of organic tinned fish featuring sardines, mackerel and wild salmon. The products are prepared in France, and according to Ferrigno several items are still processed entirely by hand in their workshops in Provence.

La Bonne Mer BIO

La Bonne Mer BIO is Ferrigno’s organic line. Not just classic sardines in oil, but original recipes in which the flavours of southern France come through clearly.

Think of sardines with black tapenade, sun-dried tomato, tomato and basil, or lemon, garlic and parsley. Our selection also includes small mackerel, mackerel fillets and wild salmon.

The result is a range that is both approachable and surprising: ideal as an aperitif, on bread, with a salad or straight from the tin.

A family of fishermen and canners

Ferrigno is an authentic French family business with a history going back to 1920. What began as a family of fishermen grew into a renowned cannery in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône, between Marseille and the Camargue.

Today the company is still run with the same passion for the sea, good ingredients and traditional recipes.

A family of fishermen and canners

The story of Ferrigno begins with Dominique Ferrigno, a fisherman from Cetara on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. In the generations that followed, the family remained active in fishing and also began preserving fish themselves.

Since 1962 Ferrigno has been based in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône, on the French Mediterranean coast. Here the products are processed and canned with respect for traditional craftsmanship.

Today Ferrigno is the only French fish cannery on the Mediterranean coast.
