The company&#8217;s history dates back to 1948, when Armando Barrio Mata from Gij\u00f3n had the original idea of canning sea urchin roe, which at that time was very abundant on the rocks and beaches of Asturias.<br \/>\nThis unique product was initially intended for family consumption and as gifts, but commercial opportunities soon emerged that Armando was able to identify and develop.<br \/>\nIn those years, there were many small canneries scattered along the Cantabrian coast, such as the factory his father ran in 1920.
